Longer summer days, blue skies and singing birds, making it a perfect time of year to enjoy a stroll in the countryside.
We’ve chosen our favourite UK walks, located just a short drive away from many of our Renaissance Retirement developments:
See the views: Cleeve Hill, the Cotswolds
Walk up to the highest point in the Cotswolds and enjoy spectacular 360-degree-views across to the Malvern Hills, Winchcombe, and Sudeley Castle. Cleeve Common is home to a wide range of birds, butterflies and wildflowers. Take the six-mile circular walk around Cleeve Hill and enjoy a combination of natural habitats; open hilltops, streams, limestone grasslands and woodland.
The route can be found on OS Explorer Map OL45 and is within driving distance from our Wantage and Marlborough developments. With so much lovely countryside to explore in this hilly area, we wanted to make sure we build these homes in beautiful villages with good access to a vast amount of walks.
Walk along the clifftops: Chaldon Herring to Durdle Door, Dorset
If you’re feeling up to a challenge, embark on a seven-mile coastal walk that includes the picturesque geological feature of Durdle Door in Dorset. Enjoy clifftops, aquamarine waters, inviting beaches, flower-filled grasslands, and picture-perfect villages.
Be sure to admire the limestone features of Lulworth Cove and take a picnic to enjoy looking out to sea. Find the walk on OS Explorer Map OL15 and plan your springtime day trip from Wareham.
Climb St Catherine’s Hill, Winchester
Wander the historic streets of Winchester and walk along the Itchen River on this beautiful four-mile walk to St Catherine’s Hill. St Catherine’s Hill, once an ancient Iron Age settlement, looks out across the Itchen Valley. The staircase ascent is well worth the climb once you look out from the hilltop that awaits you.
St Catherine’s Hill appears on OS Explorer Map 132 and is within close distances to our sold development Romsey. If you are in the area, spend the perfect afternoon in the quaint little village of Romsey, with a stunning Cathedral and beautiful streets.
Explore the South Downs, Winchester
Experience some of the finest countryside between Winchester and the white chalk cliffs at Eastbourne. If you're looking for attractive wildlife, visible prehistory, fine pubs and pretty villages, there are 100 miles of the South Downs Way to choose from.
